Upstairs radiators

There are 4 radiators upstairs, all have been hooked up. Three with TRV's and one free flow. Some leaks but not too bad. Isolator valves have been fitted on the accessible ones, pressure seems OK.

To get a good heat contact with the under floor heating most rooms will be tiled. The picture shows the tiling in the bathroom. The upstairs bathroom has been done also.

collector 4 Click for full size imageCollector finished

The entire site over the collector are has now been landscaped. Note the rowan tree in the middle of the plot. This is unmoved despite having umpteen tonnes of earth dug around in the last 3 days. Got to think in terms of witch protection.

Collector 3 Click for full size imageHeat pump collector day 3

The final loops have gone in and the run back to the house., it was a long 300m. The trenches have all been back-filled, including the removal of some substantial boulders. The collector pipes have been routed trough the house wall, insulated and hooked into the heatpump.

Collector 2 Click for full size imageHeat pump collector day 2

Loops 3 to 7, are in. The loops are back filled initially with crusher dust (sand is in short supply on Skye). This protects the pipe and provides a good thermal contact.

Collector 1 Click for full size imageHeat pump collector day 1

A week of big progress with Johnny Skipper and his digger on site. The man is an artist with a 7 tonne excavator. He arrived on Monday and by Tuesday had done the bellmouth drain , the drain pipe drain and had put in the ditches for the services and the armoured cable to the caravan. Wednesday kicked of the trenching of the collector loop. 300m of 40mm pipe needs buried 1m down in the plot. He worked out a system where 20m of ditch was dug and then the coil would be spun on a sling and then wedged further down the ditch to prevent it springing apart. Did the first 3 loops.
